Simone Biles is Human But Not Heroic: This Isn't Hard

So about the Simone Biles "controversy": it's a personal decision, which she may have even made to help the team medal. That being said, it isn't heroic (people are still criticizing Scottie Pippen for sitting out the end of game over twenty years later). Failures aren’t something to be celebrated. This has clearly been building for some time and she did not have the awareness to ask for help, apparently. So she is human. So what? But it shouldn’t be celebrated.

Then there are the same people who had a meltdown over not baking a cake for religious reasons are the ones rushing to defend her. And the same conservatives who argue that women are more fragile and need protected, shouldn't be in the draft, etc., are having a meltdown that one would leave an athletic completion performing dangerous maneuvers, because they are feeling off and lost their confidence, and may seriously injure themselves. "I don't think women should enter the draft or be in combat” and “Stay no matter what and fight for the country” seem to be diametrically opposed positions. The hypocrisy of some on both sides is palpable. We are all living in our post modern pseudo-realities devoid of principle. Purely political positions are not the objective standard we should be striving for. We have to go to the "source of truth".

I wasn’t even aware we should be celebrating, watching or even caring about the Olympics in this day and age anyhow, because, meh, Nationalism.
